Many small businesses do marketing day by day: a post here, an offer there. A short plan makes everything easier: you know who you’re talking to, what to post and what to measure. AI can help you build one in an hour. The key is to feed it real information about your business.
Step 1: Give the AI your business facts
I run a [type of business] in [city/country].
Products/services: [list with typical prices]
Best customers: [who they are, why they buy]
What makes us different: [speed, quality, location, price…]
Current marketing: [Instagram, WhatsApp, Google profile…]
Monthly marketing budget: [amount]
Ask me up to 5 questions if anything important is missing.
Answer its questions honestly. The plan is only as good as this step.
Step 2: Define your customer and offer
Create 2 short customer profiles for my business:
who they are, what problem they want solved, where they spend time online,
what stops them from buying, and the words they would use to search.
Then suggest 3 clear offers or messages for each.
Step 3: Set simple goals
Suggest 3 realistic marketing goals for the next 90 days for a business
of my size and budget. Make them measurable (e.g. enquiries per month,
Google reviews, email subscribers). Explain how I would track each one.
Step 4: Choose channels (not all of them)
Ask the AI to compare channels for your customer and budget, then choose 2–3 to focus on:
| Channel | Good for | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile | Local searches and reviews | Setup guide |
| Visual products, food, beauty, retail | Instagram guide | |
| WhatsApp Business | Fast replies, catalog, repeat customers | WhatsApp guide |
| Repeat sales and loyal customers | Email marketing | |
| Google Ads | People ready to buy now | Google Ads guide |
Step 5: Build a 90-day action plan
Create a 90-day marketing action plan using only [chosen channels].
Organize it week by week, with no more than 3 hours of work per week.
Include: what to do, who does it, and what to measure.
Format it as a table I can paste into Excel.
Paste the table into our content calendar template or a Trello board.
Step 6: Generate content ideas
- “Give me 20 post ideas for [customer profile]: tips, behind the scenes, customer stories and offers. Mix of formats.”
- “Write 5 caption options for this post in a friendly, local tone.” See captions with AI.
- “Suggest seasonal campaign ideas for Ramadan, Eid, National Day and back-to-school.”
Step 7: Track and adjust monthly
Here are my results for last month: [numbers].
What worked, what didn't, and what 3 changes should I make next month?
Keep numbers in a simple sheet like our KPI dashboard template, and check Google Analytics for website results.
A one-page plan structure
1. Our customer (2 profiles)
2. Our offer and key message
3. Goals for 90 days (3 numbers)
4. Channels (2–3) and why
5. Weekly actions and owners
6. Budget per channel
7. How we measure and when we review
Tips
- Check facts and claims. AI may suggest statistics or trends that aren’t accurate.
- Keep your voice. Edit AI text so it sounds like your business.
- Don’t paste customer lists or private data into AI tools. See our AI privacy checklist.
- Start small. A plan you follow beats a perfect plan you don’t.
